CEYLON SAMUEL KINGSTON.

Principal of the High School, Bay City, was born Oct. 6, 1870, at Canton, N. Y., and is the son of James and Lucinda (Chambers) Kingston. Prof. Kingston received the degree of B. A. from St. Lawrence University in 1892, and of M. A. from the U. of M. in 1894; was instructor in mathematics at St. Lawrence University in '93-4. Prof. Kingston is a member of the B. O. T. fraternity; is especially interested in secondary and higher education, and is alive to every influence likely to shed light upon educational matters in general. A modest bearing and devotion to his work mark the every day life of Prof. Kingston.
Note: The High School referenced was Eastern, which was located on Madison Street where the YMCA is presently is. It became a junior high when Central HIgh School was open 1925.

Taught History at Cheney State Normal School (currently Eastern Washington University) from 1901-1940. Mr. Kingston also served as acting president of Cheney State Normal School from March 1902 to May 1902 when the position was filled by Lewis B. Alger. Kingston Hall was named for C. S. Kingston in 1972.
