Jason C. Mandley (1845-1817)
Born in Ohio, Civl War veteran, resident of Bay City.

Obituary. Contributed by Jim Petrimoulx - May, 2011.

The Bay City Times Tribune - Thursday, May 31, 1917.

Jason C. Mandley, 72 years old, and one of the best known veterans of the Civil war in this city, died at his home, 1211 Second street, this morning at 2:40 o'clock from pneumonia. He was taken sick on Monday and on account of his advanced years and injuries which he received in an accident over a year ago he lacked the necessary vitality to overcome the disease. For over 29 years he was a janitor at the G. A. R. hall where he raised the flag at half mast on numerous occasions as a mark of respect to the passing of comrades. Today the colors were raised in honor of his memory by another. He was a member of the 29th Ohio Volunteers and served throughout the rebellion , being wounded once in action. He is survived by a widow and five children, all of whom were present when dissolution took place. They are Mrs. Lola Lyons and George Mandley, of Detroit; Frank and Charles Mandley, of this city, and Samuel of Midland.
