Ann Goodwin, wife ofJohn Oliver, of Bay City, one the early pioneers of Michigan, died in Bay City, January 11, 1890, in the 77th year of her age. Mrs. Oliver was born the county of Kent, England, June 9, 1813; emigrated to America in 1830 and was married to John Oliver, April 28, 1831, at Geneva, New York, and emigrated to Michigan in 1843. A great part of her later life has been spent in Bay City where she was widely known, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Oliver was one of the noblest of women, a true Christian and philanthropist. She was held in great respect by all classes. Some few years since she celebrated her golden wedding, on which occasion all the old settlers and prominent citizens attended to wish them a happy voyage in the declining days. She leaves and aged husband to mourn her loss.
