HARRISON H. WHEELER. _______
WHEELER, HARRISON H. -- Was born March 22,1839, at Hadley, Lapeer county, Michigan. Was educated in the common schools. Was brought up on a farm. Taught school winters after 18, till war broke out, when he enlisted in Company C. (Capt. Bunnel) 10th Michigan Infantry (Col. Lum.). Remained in service over three years; wounded three times; last time rendered left arm useless. After war studied law with Hon. Isaac Marston; admitted to bar out his office in 1867 by Judge J. G. Sutherland. Was elected State Senator from Bay county in 1870; re-elected in 1872. Appointed Circuit Judge 1874 by Gov. Bagley; afterwards elected to both parties; resigned in 1878 and resumed practice of law. Now resides in Manistee.

HARRISON H. WHEELER. _______
Hon. Harrison H. Wheeler Was born at Hadley, Mich., March 22, 1839. He was brought up on a farm and attended school winters. Taught school winter from 1857 to 1861. He enlisted as a private in the 10th Michigan infantry, and rose to rank of captain. He was wounded three times, the last crippling his left arm for life. He served in the army over three years. In 1867 he commenced the study of law with Judge Marston, at Bay City, and was admitted to the bar in 1869. He served as Senator from Bay county in 1871-2-3. He then removed to Ludington, was appointed circuit judge in 1874, and was afterward elected by the support of both parties. He resigned in 1878, and has since been engaged in the practice of law. In politics a Republican.

At the spring election in 1875 Harrison H. Wheeler was elected judge of the circuit to which Wexford county belonged, over S. W. Fowler, of Manistee, his Democratic opponent. Judge Wheeler had previously served to the fill the vacancy caused by the nomination of Judge White. So much was Judge Wheeler liked that he received almost the solid vote of Wexford county and in several townships in the county there was not a vote cast for his opponent. The company's commissioned officers were: Capt. Bunnell, 1st Lt. Redfield, and 2nd Lt. Alvah A. Collins.
Comment: The 10th Michigan Infantry was formed at Flint, Michigan in the fall of 1861, and was comprised of Companies A through K. Wheeler was a member of Company C, which was known as the Orion Union Guard. Company C. was created by the merging of two groups. One formed by Benjamin B.
