1. Missions Flow from God’s Heart for All People
God is concerned for every nation, tribe, and language. Scripture shows that His plan has always included all peoples coming to know Him.
Psalm 67:1-2 – “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.”
John 3:16 – God’s love extends to the entire world.
2. Missions Are a Command from Jesus
Jesus explicitly gave His followers a mission to reach all nations.
Matthew 28:19-20 (The Great Commission) – “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
Acts 1:8 – “You will be my witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”
Missions is not optional; it is an obedience-driven calling for every believer.
3. Missions Reveal God’s Glory
Sharing the Gospel is about more than evangelism; it’s about displaying God’s glory and power to a world in need.
Isaiah 49:6 – God says His servant will be “a light for the nations,” showing His salvation beyond Israel.
Romans 15:18-19 – Paul describes his mission as fulfilling God’s plan to make His message known where Christ has not yet been named.
4. Missions Build the Body of Christ
Missions help bring people into God’s family, growing the Church globally.
Ephesians 4:11-13 – God equips the Church to build up the body of Christ until all believers reach maturity.
Through missions, spiritual gifts are exercised, disciples are made, and communities are transformed.
5. Missions Offer Hope and Salvation
The ultimate goal of missions is to bring the eternal hope of Jesus to those who are lost.
Romans 10:14-15 – People cannot believe in Jesus unless they hear of Him, and someone must go and tell them.
6. The Impact of Missions on Communities
Missions do not just change individual lives; they transform entire communities. When the Gospel is shared, it brings hope and healing to those who are suffering.
Acts 2:44-47 – The early church shared everything they had, and their community grew as they lived in unity and love.
Matthew 5:14-16 – Believers are called to be the light of the world, shining brightly in their communities.
7. Personal Testimonies of Transformation
Many individuals have experienced profound changes through missions. Their stories reflect the power of God’s love and the importance of sharing it.
Example 1: A missionary shared how a simple act of kindness opened doors to share the Gospel in a remote village.
Example 2: A local church member recounts how their life was changed after participating in a mission trip, leading to a deeper relationship with God.
8. The Role of Prayer in Missions
Prayer is vital in the mission field. It supports missionaries and opens hearts to receive the message of Christ.
Philippians 4:6-7 – Encourages believers to pray about everything, trusting that God will provide peace.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Calls for constant prayer, which is essential for the success of missions.
In short: Missions are not just a church activity—they are the outflow of God’s heart for humanity, a command from Christ, and a means to bring hope, discipleship, and glory to Him across the nations. Scripture consistently frames missions as essential, urgent, and transformative.
Missions are a journey of faith, and each believer is invited to be part of this incredible adventure. As we engage in missions, we reflect God’s love and truth, bringing light to a world that desperately needs it.
